Big Sean - I Do It

As I am sure you are already aware, I rarely ever feature Hip Hop but this is not out of a lack of time for the genre, merely a lack of unique and talented releases. I can get really involved with a track with a solid flow and original lyrics and wish they came around more often. Here is a tune that I have been blasting for a while now as, with a Weezy-esque rap and deep kicks, it really hits the tempo and tone just right.

Teach Me (Terravita Remix)

Another smasher from Terravita as they remix California Swag District's massive Hip Hop track, Teach Me How To Dougie. The harsh distorted synths layer over the original to provide a shocking drop and dub-head version of the party tune. Also featured today is the original with its unofficial video as I'm quite a fan of the simplicity and raw groove of the beat.

Popof - Summer On Mars

A new minimal treat from none other than Popof brings us more progressive synths and beats than ever. This lures one into such a soft and sublime trance; a Sunday tune if I have ever heard one.

Phace & Noisia - Program

An absolute smasher reaches the shores from none other than the neurofunk veterans Phace and Noisia. Reminds me of Noisia's old tracks; such filthy synths with a perfectly phat and clean drum loop is what neurofunk is all about. The sheer speed it feels like its running at, it is mind boggling.

Kito & Reija Lee - Sweet Talk

Unique dubstep outing from the fast growing vocal duo Kito & Reija Lee's new EP sees ground shaking basslines complementing oriental synths and smooth acapellas. Ideal material for both sitting back, chilling and getting that deep resounding bass to pump you up.

Mord Fustang - Lick The Rainbow

Another banger from Mord Fustang sees more wobbles and hard electro bass hitting the dancefloor. This guy seems to be storming through the charts and for good reason with his unstoppable releases.

Fracture & Neptune - Customtone

Surrealist drum and bass is the feature of today with Fracture and Neptune's new video to celebrate their new album, 'Retrospect - A Decade Of Fracture & Neptune'. Non-euclidean geometry in the form of Escher-esque shapes and morphing lines follows this psychedelic piece reminiscent of Jeff Wayne's masterpieces backed to a liquid dnb beat. In a class of its own, this is a drum and bass treat and one of the most original tracks to be released in years.

Meteorites (Danny Byrd Remix)

London Elektricity released their new album Yikes! recently and it is a smooth, liquid filled trip into musical bliss from the dnb veterans. Meteorites has been their main single from the album so far, with an elaborate animated music video of Elsa Esmerelda (the vocalist) journeying through the cosmos. While the original did not build up as much excitement for me as I'd expected from a Hospitality backed London Elektricity single, the Danny Byrd remix is out of this world. Sublime pads and melodic, filtered leads layered alongside Elsa's clean vocals makes the perfect blend. So here it is featured today but also check out the music video if you can as it is rare to see a drum and bass video, let alone one of that production quality.

MyBack - Clap Yo Handz

Albin Myers and John Dahlback collaborate on this slice of house to create a club track with one of the most powerful drops I have heard so far this year. Supported by the likes of Tiesto and featured on the duo's new compilation, this song is bound to become a feature in this year's club scene; this is electro-house at its finest.

Aniki - Hausbraak

Such a banger with a slick and simple drop of dubstep/electro fusion as is becoming standard in more exploratory club tracks. Aniki starts off the track in style with a tight beat followed by a moderately misleading build up in tone, but I think this inconsistency in the track leads to the utter confusion and devastation that the drop provides. Mechanical synths, deep sub bass and those golden moments of near silence in the beat make this a massive tune; I'm sure we'll be hearing more from this guy.

Martin Solveig feat Kele - Ready 2 Go

I think this might be the most mainstream I have ventured so far but to be honest, sometimes there is a good reason for a song to be successful and for Martin Solveig it's his undisputed ability to make the most catchy of tracks. This song particularly will be a massive club hit and with a sprinkling of mild dubstep in the background we can all enjoy it too. And for anyone who cannot be satiated by anything but a juicy drop, here is a nice electro remix by Hardwell that I am posting up as well.

Message In A Bottle (Matisyahu Cover)

Another little piece of island life today with a few great reggae tunes that I have been busting for the last few weeks. The first is a remix of The Police's famous song by a reggae toting rabbi. The next two are some classics by none other than Pressure and the final track is a personal favourite to get everyone into the mood of summer by Gyptian; enjoy.

The Artful Dodger - Survive

Amazingly catchy tune from the garage master himself, the Artful Dodger. Mark brings us a new tinge of UK Garage with his soulful and low-key vocal track that has got itself stuck deep within my head. He has produced two versions, the first is my favourite and the most appropriately chill for today but his remix also has an amazing flow.

Pacifica (Kito & Reija Remix)

Spor finally releases what was initially his first dubstep outing this week with a host of remixes and versions in the Pacifica EP. The original mix is a slow, atmospheric track that boasts a beast of a drop. Other versions include Chasing Shadow's remix with an even more devastating bassline and the most notable being the unassuming Kito & Reija Lee's production employing chill vocals and rolling bass. I'm glad to see the master of neurofunk finally producing with his old name, even if it is a new style. The link for the whole EP is at the bottom.

Gold (Mord Fustang Remix)

Massive remix of Fussy Boy's original sees a synth buildup driven slice of electro house of the highest class. Wolfgang Gartner-esque with more of a tinge of syncopation in the melodic rhythm which partially throws off the listener causing utter confusion at the drop; tune for your Friday.

Emalkay - Eclipse

His debut album is finally here and it is massive (no pun intended). The dub god, Emalkay, has released an LP that sounds as though we have been listening to it for years and that is a good thing. He has created a work of pure originality but containing the essence of what we have come to know and love. Emalkay's brainchild is diverse with a more gentle mood ideal for background listening at times and a more classical approach. Though, this is no background collection but an album to be reckoned with; boasting bangers like 'Fabrication' and the world famous 'When I Look At You' this is a guaranteed hit with all dub fans. Here are my favourite of these soon to be classics.

Emalkay - Metropolis

To hear Fabrication, another favourite of mine, see my older post on it here. And here is the enivitable addition of his most famous track which saturated clubs in 2009.

Acid Rocker (David Tort Remix)

An absolutely massive slice of house comes our way from the club master David Tort. Henrik B's already outstanding drop is expanded and made even more harsh and acid filled. Such a seemingly simple pattern but the emotional tension that is evoked with it is amazing; this one rips dancefloors apart. Here is the banger of a remix and the original if you haven't yet heard it.

Reeps One

I stumbled across some amazing beatboxing recently; these people take it far beyond what I thought would be humanly possible and create fully fledged dub tunes with just their own voice box. Reeps One is the most impressive as he spits all his stuff live, but there are some layered beatbox recordings that have taken my interest as well. Here's a small collection of some of the outstanding talent out there.

Here is the staple Reeps One display.

This is my favourite live performance of his; watch from 3:30 onwards, amazing.

Doctor P's sweetshop, entirely with one's mouth.

And finally, the first recorded track I heard utilising purely this skill performed by the world famous Beardyman; the Qemist's Soundface.

Break - Let It Happen

Just got another load of 12"s and am so elated to have finally bought some tracks that I have loved for years; to be honest I am not entirely sure why I hadn't had them until now. The two major tracks I am ecstatic about getting and in a short time I will be blasting out in full vinyl glory are a Pendulum classic and one of my favourite dnb tunes of all time by Break. I thought I'd share them with you so you can revel in the good times too.

Wreckage Machinery has released his new subtle liquid track for free. It's such a welcome bonus; we should all thank and applaud him for such a sublime song with all the quiet intensity of liquid dnb while entertaining calm and unique piano breakdowns alongside summery outdoor sampling.

Jubei - Patience VIP

Metalheadz release Jubei's new double A side. With two deep atmospheric tracks boasting subtle but powerful basslines, this release is a must listen. The VIP of Patience has a drum beat reminiscent of the early 2000s; so fast and clean yet not overpowering. The flipside hits hard too as the bass in the drop of Boddika's Remix of Alignment is aurally punishing.

Cookie Monsta - Blurgh!

Cookie Monsta once again back on the scene with his 2010 classic being released on the Circus One EP. Blurgh!, I am sure many of you heard a while ago and will agree that it is one of the most devastating songs he's dropped in a long time. Two other massive recent tracks of his that came to mind as I was posting this are Fat Girl Rodeo and Ginger Pubes, both released last year. The sub bass in the drops on these tunes is unbelievable; prepare yourself for some truly disturbingly filthy dubstep.

Dilemn - Plugged

Dilemn packed his new album 'Better Worlds' with bangers and another one has revealed itself to me. Plugged is his dubstep outing and the closing track of the record. It employs a unique minimalist drop that causes the listener to yearn for more; such a solid track with an exceptionally addictive flow.

Groundation - Freedom Taking Over

I recently stumbled across an American Reggae band named Groundation. Despite their relatively young catalogue, their tunes are pure roots and are so chill it seems otherworldly. The album I have been delving into has been their 2002 gem, Hebron Gate. It has some of the most inspired reggae I have heard for a long time. Here are some of the highlights of their work but in all honesty, their whole discography is pure gold.

The License (16AJ Remix)

The classic jungle track, The License by Krome and Time has been pushed into the limelight recently with the upcoming Serial Killaz remix. I have been looking for news on his new banger and it has led me to find a really great remix by the little known jungle artist 16 Armed Jack. A classic sounding amen beat with deep resounding bass makes this a massive tune.

Borgore - Money

Another of Borgore's quasi-rap outings and to be honest I quite enjoy his flows, he actually has a pretty relate-able and memorable rap persona. Big track at the moment with a remix competition seeing hundreds flock to filthify his gorestep yet further. My favourite though still remains with Borgore's original track and here it is.

Lapalux - Construction Deconstruction

Lapalux brings us a truly terrifying piece of music here; a sublime atmospheric track with oscillating emotional shifts and absurd rhythms. It is reminiscent of Burial and to some extent some of KOAN Sound's newest work. Unique and aurally astounding; enjoy this Sunday's feature, it will put shivers down your spine.
