Nero - Welcome Reality

What some may argue to be the biggest dubstep album release this year is finally here boasting all of Nero's biggest tunes in the past couple of years such as Innocent, Me & You, Guilt and their recent smash hit Promises. However the LP is not simply an amalgamation of their hits alongside a seamlessly mixed assortment of similar but lesser tracks; though the first nine tracks of the album led me to believe this. Once you gruel your way through more than half an hour of old singles, the real beauty and originality of the album emerges. "Crush On You" fills me with so much hope for dubstep as it creates an anthemic feeling with its catchy lyrics and rave style beat before it hits with what is my favourite 'catch you off guard' hard dubstep drop this year. But it's not over there with even more innovation in the following quasi-funk track "Must Be The Feeling" that brings us back to the 70s and yet keeps their trademark, powerful and deep scratching bass undertone. I am very enthused by this release from Nero and will likely find more gems from this diverse album in the weeks to come.
